The Collaborative Charter Services Organization announced today it will implement a Blockchain-based system for tracking COVID-19 infections among teachers, support staff, and students.
This is doing as part of a frantic attempt for schools to try and get back to in-person instruction.
The app in question is Team.Care Network, an app designed by blockchain healthcare infrastructure firm Solve.Care.
The app tracks the individual health and wellbeing of members across the educational community and will begin with on-site staff before expanding to teachers and students as they return to school in person.
First, the rollout will include California Pacific Charter Schools in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sonoma counties.
It will also include MY Academy in Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial counties, and the organization’s home office in San Marcos.
The app, which is California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) compliant, will enable administrators to get insights and make decisions based on analytics, allowing them to swiftly remediate any new Covid cases that may occur.
From Solve.Care CEO Pradeep Goel:
“Team.Care Network was a direct response to COVID-19 for the workplace where there was an immediate need to protect the workforce. But it is more than that. It is a workforce engagement solution for organizations to ensure their workforce remain engaged, motivated, productive and healthy in the new normal, even after we emerge from the pandemic.”
“In recent years, Californians have shown their commitment to protecting citizens’ privacy rights though the introduction of a welcome range of new policies in the state such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the very recently passed California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Now, in the first application of blockchain technology in a day-to-day school setting, public California charter schools can create a safer space for students and staff while ensuring data privacy concerns are addressed through our privacy-preserving blockchain-based application,”
This is an interesting use of Blockchain technology and since the entire world is grappling with this pandemic, there will definitely be more Covid-19 related apps on the horizon.
We will of course cover those as we find them…
